Oh, I almost forgot -

the real reason for the post -

I thought that a vest would be a nice piece for this time of year, decided on the Back to School vest, and raided my stash (and this, children, is the reason for a stash). I found 5 skeins of yarn from Handpaintedwool.com, bought for I don't know what back in I don't remember when, calculated that I have just enough for the vest, and wound the skeins.

As I looked at them, an old Sesame Street song popped into my head:
P1010544

"One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong.
Can you guess which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?"

Well, how'd you do? Did you just assume that the top cake is lighter because of the sunlight?

Wrongo! (do you remember that 7-Up commercial?) It is SIGNIFICANTLY lighter than its relatives. So much so that I am a little concerned that simply alternating skeins might not be enough to blend it in.

Sigh.

I just want a damn vest. I just want to sit down, and churn out a quick, cute, cuddly vest. I don't want to have to figure anything out right now. Mindless is what we're going for here (refer to previous post for reasoning).

Any suggestions? Anyone???

I'm thinking the same - I don't think alternationg will do enough to hide it. What about saving it for edgings? Although, you probably need it for the body. Damn. I hate when that happens...

Oh dear! It's not easy being a knitter (and yeah, that's "knitter") is it?
Personally I would either use the lighter yarn for the bottom of the vest, or for the middle.

Lovely looking yarn though.
Good luck.

I assume that you need it for more that just edgings - I would try it just below the bust, where the pattern changes, and use it for an ombre kind of look. Or overdye all of it. Or stripe with it. Good luck.

I was gonna suggest using it for the ribbings/edgings, but I see everyone else has beat me to that idea.

Striping with it might be cool, altho possibly way too subtle.

Seriously, how much yardage do you have in the 4 balls that match? Depending on the complexity of the design, you might have enough.

I may only be a novice, but perhaps the edging is the best route to go as mentioned above. Like the idea. Or maybe you could make little 'light circles' as a design...with a smiley face. haaaaaa...if all fails...just ship it to WI where the yarn shall be welcomed with open arms.
